Hello. Let me introduce myself...

My name is Dru Koester. You haven’t heard of me before, and that’s okay. I didn’t come from any fancy ivy league schools or gated communities. I don’t backpack in Europe or belong to any clubs that require jackets & pedigrees… Nothing wrong with those things; in fact, they’re pretty nice. (Life is meant to have wonderful experiences, after all.)

But that’s just not where I come from — I’m from a farm in the heart of Eastern Montana. I grew up “riding the ditch” with my dad to check tubes on the sugar beet fields. Eating peas from my mom’s garden while the insects sang loudly on summer nights. Or climbing snow drifts in winter so high we could step right onto our garage roof.

As a teen, I attended a small class C school at the base of the Crazy Mountains and spent hours driving down dirt roads in a GMC Suburban or driving down dirt rows in a red International, listening to the radio endlessly loop Reba and George.

My roots in this incredible state are deep, growing generations back. I know what it’s like to work in a field from sun up to sun down. I know how to build, not to take. And I know what it means to be a part of Montana, the greatest state in the Union, from the prairies to the mountains, to the fairgrounds, to the national parks (Yellowstone is ours, btw.)

I care about this state, my very large hometown, and I love and care about the community in Helena, full of some of the best people you’ll ever meet.

As a business owner, homeschool mom, pro-peace, free market enthusiast, I’m very concerned about the direction of our country.

​

I’d like to be a nation at peace.

​

I’d like my children and grandchildren to be able to afford a home in our local town and not be forced to move away… or at least afford a trip to the ER, for goodness sakes.

​

I’d like justice to be served across the board, whether someone is powerfully connected or not… and the courts not be tied up with petty, victimless crimes.

​

I’m running for SD41 because I believe in peace. I believe in prosperity. And I believe in justice.

​

And thus far neither party has been producing any of those things, despite decades of alternating power between the two.

​

I don’t claim to have all the answers but I will tell you this:

I’m not a politician, &, quite frankly, we’ve had our fill of those…

I’ll never lie to you; I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror if I did.

I’ll never try to steal from you to fund a pet project; as a Montanan, I understand the concept of private property rights & know your best chance at prosperity is the government keeping its sticky hands OUT of your pockets.

In the senate, I’d represent YOU — I’m dyed-in-the-wool Libertarian after all, which means I don’t have pesky party loyalty hang-ups; my loyalty is to YOU, my neighbors. My community. Not party lines or dirty political favors.
