Defend the Guard
Defend the Guard legislation would prohibit a state’s National Guard units from being deployed into active combat without a formal declaration of war by Congress, as provided by the U.S. Constitution.
In the Montana Senate, I would support this critical peace of legislation in order to end our endless foreign wars and bring our troops home, where they can protect America and not an Empire.
Homeschool Rights
Did you know Montana ranks 3rd in the nation for homeschooling? 9% of students in our state are homeschooled, only Alaska and Tennessee have higher rates.
And that's excellent news:
-
Homeschool kids frequently score 15-30% higher on standardized tests than public schooled children.
-
They also tend to receive higher ACT & SAT scores.
-
And they have a higher college graduation rate than their peers.
We should follow in the footsteps of our sister-state Wyoming and do away with homeschool laws that make school administrators, and not parents, the default guardians of children.
Budgets Matter
Budgets matter. They matter in my personal life. They matter in my business. And they matter in government.
I want Montana families to be able to afford Montana. I want whole neighborhoods where grandma lives right up the road from the kiddos. I want young adults to be able to find work in their hometowns so they don’t have to go get jobs in Phoenix or Houston and be away from their families.
We are a nation in crisis. We need to get the government out of the way of the American Dream. We need to deregulate the market and let it thrive. We need people in government who can actually budget. We need people who actually care about the taxpayers, not their own special agendas.
Gun Rights
Gun rights are simply property rights. And your property rights are sacred and should not be infringed upon.
The Founding Fathers wrote the Second Amendment because an armed populace is a free populace.
Never forget:
-
The first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired when the British tried to confiscate the Colonists' weapons.
-
Before slaughtering the Lakota people at Wounded Knee, the US Army disarmed the tribe.
-
The first "common sense gun control" measures enacted in this country were to keep minorities such as slaves, Catholics, or Natives Americans from owning guns.
Guns are the great equalizer of society.
As senator, I would never sign away this God-given right from my fellowman.
Private Property Rights
"The true foundation of republican government is the equal right of every citizen in his person and property and in their management." — Thomas Jefferson
Our nation was founded on the groundwork of Old English Common Law, or "Natural Law" as the Founding Fathers would have called it. Your right to your personal freedom and your property should never be violated.
Unfortunately today, your property is routinely plundered from you in the form of income and property tax. (By the way, less than 2% of the federal budget goes towards roads.)
This needs to end. Income and private property rights should be upheld by our government, not violated to line the pockets of politicians and their ilk.
Libertarian Principles
What does a Libertarian believe?
- A libertarian believes nobody has the right to infringe on you or your property.
- A libertarian believes that voluntary contracts must be upheld.
- A libertarian believes in the free market.
- Libertarians adhere to the principle of Non-aggression, rejecting the initiation of force against their fellowman.
- A libertarian believes in peace.
- A libertarian believes your rights aren't granted by the government, but exist outside of man-made systems.
- A libertarian believes in protecting the rights of the smallest minority on earth, the individual.
